Kory Watkins is a douche of epic proportions, I went to high school with him and his brother. A group of friends and I had a disagreement with a group he was associated with. Being in high school we tried to settle it the most appropriate way possible, with a "fight". We all met up and did the typical bullshit chest thumping bro dance back and forth. Kory and his fat fuck brother rolled up and I shit you not pulled a gun on us. Rights come from a social contract. We've agreed (at least implicitly) to a process, and agreed that this works for us, and are constantly renegotiating and redefining that social contract. That's what a political process is.

I'll disagree. The rights are above a "social contract", which is between people. Having rights come from a higher power means people cannot renegotiate them.

I'll agree that rights need to be protected from political whim, but characterizing them as being a mandate from an absentee deity is just silly.
