  • Thoughts on this Colt or Sig for carry

Looking for something to carry while at the store, but also something that will conceal decently for regular use.

I'm short and fat, so that factors in as well. 5'6", 170lbs.

Looking at possibly the Colt Defender in .45, 3" barrel

or possibly this Sig P938 9mm

    Thoughts, opinions, hateful commentary?

I would roll with the sig or a mustang.

A little. What threw me was the fact that it is a tad more money than the Sig. Is it worth the extra dollars?

In my opinion. You work in a place where you can wear a button down and cover a lot. A good IWB holster will hide a lot.

I've got a 938 I carry, I love it. Really easy to conceal with just a shirt. My other carry is a Sig Ultra Compact (it's comparable to the Colt) and IMO is harder to hide with just a shirt.

My question is which is better between the Sig and Springfield? Is the Springfield worth the few extra dollars?

Colt and Sig are probably my two favorite brands overall. I'm getting a new Sig tomorrow and then will probably sell my Springfield XDm which is a great gun in its own right, but its just a modern poly gun.

For carry of those two choices I'd take the 938. If you can carry something a little larger I'd think a P228 or M11 would be nice too.

Not to mention I don't have to worry about concealment at work, just in regular clothes and I usually wear shirts a little on the loose side

If this wasn't such a big bitch I'd love to carry it. It's on my short list just cause.

Take it from someone that has shelled out big money for a Series 70 custom shop uncataloged Colt last year and a Series 80 to just save your money and get the Series 80 instead. The WC has the front strap checkering which is nice but outside of that it's pretty overpriced for what you get. In the end other than collectability and resale value Series 70 doesn't offer a great benefit to the shooter.

And if it's what you really want to carry they make WC commanders and WC lightweight commanders too. And for way less you can get an XSE lightweight series 80 commander.....
