Left Handed AR question

My brother is a lefty and is building an AR15. While talking to one of the local gun stores, the clerk mentioned needing a different BCG. I don't recall ever seeing a separate BCG listed for sale but I never really look for lefty stuff.

Probably a stupid question, but Is there a different BCG for a left vs right side eject?

If you're building an AR15 with a left handed upper receiver (it ejects brass to the left) you will need a different bolt, so the extractor and ejector are kicking the cases out on the correct side. Without it, it will try to eject the cases into the side of the receiver. I would research it further to make sure you don't need a carrier. My guess is if your lefty upper has the forward assist on the left side, then you would need a custom carrier to use it.

Wait. It's the carrier, too. The gases are directed out the ejection port through the carrier.

I know a bunch of left-handed guys that shoot regular rifles. I never understood why lefties believe that they need a different gun. In the military it isn't like they have a whole rack of left-handed M-16s to give out to the one in 10 southpaws.

Now obviously with something like a bolt action rifle I get it.

An ambidextrous safety might be a cheaper option.

I've only ever had right-handed anything on rifles. Even my .308 bolt action is right-handed.

Im a lefty too. Everything I shoot ejects to the right so it doesn't bother me.

All I do for my ars is order an ambi safety from amazon for 20 bucks, and a ambi charging handle for 70ish. Mag release I use my thumb with stock location

Only reason I did it was to suppress it. At least push most of the gasses away from my face
