AR15 ammo for home defense

I keep a .380 and .45 handgun beside me on/in the nightstand or carry one of them around pretty much at all times in the house...I don't have any long guns out but they are in the gun safe and easily accessible. Mags are loaded in the AK and AR and the 12 Gauge is loaded with slugs but nothing in the pipe...all I have to do is chamber and they are ready to go.

Similar. I keep a G17 by the bed ready to roll. There's an M500 with #4 buckshot with the tube full but not chambered close by. Kitchen, den, etc. all have a handgun strategically placed as well. I have loaded PMAGS scattered but AR's and other long guns are locked away.

The shotty is my preference if I have to use a weapon in the house. It shouldn't penetrate walls unsafely, will be very loud, and should deter anyone from advancing. It's sized appropriately too.
