  • Remington 700 SPS Tactical 223

Anyone have any experience with a Remington 700 SPS Tactical 223? Been thinking of getting one just not sure if I should go with a 16" or 20" barrel.

I won't buy Remington shit again for a lot of reasons, and not least of these is that the cheaper you go in the 700 line, the bigger the crapshoot they are. Get a Savage that meets your needs, or a Howa, Ruger, Tikka, CZ, etc. Don't reward the bottom feeders at Remington with perfectly good dollars.

Length will depend on what you want to do with the rifle.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly! I won't buy another Remington. Savage, Tikka, and CZ dominate my rifle rack for bolt actions, but the new Ruger American rifles have caught my attention and I may give one a try soon.

A good friend just picked up a American compact in 6.5 Creedmoor that I'm really interested in trying out.

That would be one I would be interested in. I've got plenty of .308's and a 7.62x39 for hunting. Would like to try a 6.5 creed as a hunting rifle. Let me know how you like it, once you try it out. My dad has a few of the Americans and he really likes them a lot. I have handled them, but not shot any of them to form a functional opinion yet...

As soon as he decides on a scope for it and we get some trigger time behind it I'll report back. I read a article that had some good feedback on the Creedmoor version so there is some potential there.

I have the SPS Tactical in .308 w/20" barrel and love it. Can shoot all day comfortably and accurately.

Here is a option for a dbm 700 223 with cheap mags.

How'd you like to run AR-15 Mags in your Rem 700 bolt gun? Sound far-fetched? Well think again. Pacific Tool and Gauge has developed a unique bottom metal system for Rem 700 short actions that works with standard AR-15 mags, providing reliable function with .223 Rem (5.56x45mm) rounds. The

How about a Howa Hogue Kryptek Package? I know nothing about these rifles but saw one at my local gun shop & it looked really sweet.

Actually this Hogue Heavybarrel Varminter seems a little better so I can mount a better optic.

I like them both. The kryptex gun will be way handier, though.

                          Hogue stocks suck.

How is the glass that comes on the kryptek? I want a bolt gun in 223 with a bull barrel no more than 20" long. Won't be shooting past 200 yards with it. Just something to use as a bench gun to play around with.

Just curious (because I don't know) why?
