So I'm looking at replacing my front sight for something more visible (I have trouble seeing the black sights) but eventually I want to add a red dot sight of some kind. So my question is, will the stock "triangle" front sight get in the way of a red dot that's mounted on my flat top receiver? Trying to decide if I can get away with just replacing the post on my front sight or should I go with a folding front sight.

Appreciate everybody's input on this. I hung out with a buddy of mine who has a couple of AR's with one setup like mine with the front site. He has an EOTech mounted on it and it works pretty good and the front sight didn't bother me at all when I looked through the scope. I think I'm going to leave the front sight on the way it is right now and just replace the post with something more visible. It'll be cheaper anyway.

So just reading up on this a bit further. If I wanted to replace the front triangle sight and go with a flip down front sight, I would have to replace the gas block with a low profile one. What a PITA just to go with a flip down front sight. I'm not sure what all is involved in this but it sounds like a pain in the ass.

Do what I did. Paint to front post with white paint. Made a world of difference for me. Even when I put on the red dot. I can see that Lil needle sticking up very well now and lining up a shot is way easier and faster.Non tapatalk Sig so the butt hurt va-JJs can stop crying about not being able to turn it off.
