Are there any laws against attaching a camera to a gun that can also be remotely viewed through NFC or WiFi?

    yes, if hunting ...
using it as a booby trap would be frowned upon as well

Thanks for the info...won't be hunting.

Actually I'm setting it up for paintball first... Just didn't want to leave myself exposed to risk when I finish the heads up display.

I think it's only illegal if you use it to hunt remotely.

Sec. 62.002. COMPUTER-ASSISTED REMOTE HUNTING. (a) In this section:
        (1) "Computer-assisted remote hunting" means the use of a computer or any other device, equipment, or software, to remotely control the aiming and discharge of archery equipment, a crossbow, or a firearm to hunt an animal, including a bird.
        (2) "Firearm" and "archery equipment" have the meanings assigned by Section 62.014.
        (b) A person may not engage in computer-assisted remote hunting or provide or operate facilities for computer-assisted remote hunting if the animal being hunted is located in this state.
        (c) For purposes of this section, facilities for computer-assisted remote hunting include real property and improvements on the property associated with hunting, including hunting blinds, offices, and rooms equipped to facilitate computer-assisted remote hunting.
        (d) A person who violates this section commits an offense that is a Class B Parks and Wildlife Code misdemeanor, unless it is shown at the trial of the defendant that the defendant has been convicted one or more times before the trial date of a violation of this section, in which case the offense is a Class A Parks and Wildlife Code misdemeanor.

Not for just mounting a camera to your rifle.

Not sure about just a camera, but electronically actuated firearms are considered a machine gun by the atf. It's one of the items that has to be removed on PKT's and KGKT's when converting them to semi.

No electronic controls. It'll be Used first for paintball...looking around bunkers without exposing myself and what not. Then I figure it would be fun to record some clay shooting. I probably won't use the heads up while shooting clays though.

Well you are definitely good on anything for the paintball gun. For real guns, like has been mentioned above, I am pretty sure the law only cares about remote hunting, booby traps, or electronically fired guns. Camera to record your hunt or range trips is good to go. Probably some really good idea on how to do it on you tube.

Yeah I've seen that. My plan is to use a Sony action cam and wireless remote display not a smart phone. I want the display to be helmet, visor or strap mounted with a flip up monitor. I'm not too fond of mountinga phone to a gun, and I want a separate monitor and camera module.

From what I've seen of intelliscope. It's not what I would call heads up.

Thanks for more input. Should have some optics in this week to see of it will work economically.
