Probably the best bang/caliber for the money on a standard AR15 platform would be a .300 whisper. Especially good if you have a press to load ammo for it. Essentially its a necked up .223 case with a 125-200gr .30 cal bullet. Similar to a 7.62x39 ... excellent punch for hunting within 300 yards. Best part is you can use a standard bcg, upper, lower, everything... only change the barrel and gas block.

Really don't need a different gas block to shoot it as supersonic .300 Fireball loads; adjustable gas block is needed to shoot both supersonic and subsonic loads. Will need the larger flash hider/ muzzle brake though...

7.62x39 will need different bolt, enhanced bolt carrier is also good, heavy hammer spring to shoot the cheap ammo, barrel and the larger flash hider plus a specific magazine.
