    What is a "bare lower" I'm not familiar with all the terms and what not. Is there a good resource you can point me to that explains this stuff?

      Bare lower is the same thing as a stripped lower, meaning it has no lower parts kit.... like this

        You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan?                           Ok I am getting in on the group buy for the lowers. I have never built an AR and had a few questions.

                          I am mainly going to use this for hog hunting and stress relief on my parents land. Possibly some deer hunting too. What caliber should I be going with?

                            You can go as small as a .223, but IF you were going to do any larger game I would step it up to a .243. Only issue going with .243 is the cost per round.

                              Probably the best bang/caliber for the money on a standard AR15 platform would be a .300 whisper. Especially good if you have a press to load ammo for it. Essentially its a necked up .223 case with a 125-200gr .30 cal bullet. Similar to a 7.62x39 ... excellent punch for hunting within 300 yards. Best part is you can use a standard bcg, upper, lower, everything... only change the barrel and gas block.

                                I was doing some reading on the .300's last night. Seems pretty freaking logical to go that route if you plan on hunting medium/large sized game. It just sounds almost too easy to do.
