In short, it's a right and I do not want the government telling me what I can and cannot do with my rights.
I used to be a whole lot more liberal about this than you are and have made a huge swing/turn around in the last 10-15 years. I fully understand your perspective and if we had a great government/way of monitoring/enforcing it I'd agree. However, anything government involved - best intentions or not - end up all jacked up and expensive.
At the end of the day it's real simple for me. If a criminal can get guns without training, a good hearted, tax paying citizen should be able to do so.
Personally, I do the CHL training, personal training, read articles, and try to keep up with laws.
I think things like if you subscribe to some mailing list, the government provides law updates in simple terms are things that would benefit us more than required training...etc.
I also took the hunters safety course - it was about worthless. Hell, I took the boaters safety course. We're on the same page with this stuff, but as an example - there is a large population of boaters not required to take the course. So, if you have money you can can be doing 60+ on a lake with a heavy boat with no training. 0 zip nada training. Boating is not a right either, like driving it is a privilege.
I agree, real experience is not in the classroom. It's obtained when in use, military experience, out with friends, Dad doing the training...etc...etc
Rambling here - try to respond more focused later and get back to work.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

Ive been reading more on this today. The bill is sb45 and had 26 sponsors. Its a update to the open carry law that was passed last year.
Kansas had 20,660 permits issued last year. The attourny general gets a 100.00 the sherrifs office gets 32 plus 15 for photos and 16-20 to the people who issue the actual laminate cards.
Most classes are 75-125.00 but that just goes to the people giving the class.
The state is going to loose around 3 million bucks if no one decides to still take the chl course.
To be able to travel and carry you still have to be a chl holder for reprosity.
