Great, another unenforceable interpretation...........Somebody at the ATF figured out how much revenue was lost in said "misuse" of a legal device. Makes me wonder what is next............bullets?

But how does shouldering a brace redesign the gun, but shouldering a buffer tube does not? Maybe I should write the atf for clarification.

Odd though, if you go to the ATF page of open letters this new one, or any from 2015, does not come up.

        Nevermind. Found it here.

it doesnt its the ATF creating laws on whimsy. This is just further illustrating why the pistol, sbr, rifle definitions are dumb in the modern age.

And therein lays the problem. They have zero authority to create laws. They can create all of the policies they want though.

[SATIRE] Today, just days before Shot Show 2015 the ATF has once again decided to implement game changing and sweeping rulings. ?In response to thousands of requests at the ATF Technology Branch they have released this statement: The ATF likes to change their mind. So today we have done it again and this time we […]

The ATF like many other federal regulatory agency's has the power to write regulations and the regulations that they write ARE the law unless you can get a federal judge to rule that they are not. Congress has been abdicating their mandate to write laws by turning that power over to various regulatory agencies for about the past 60 years. Regulatory power like this will be the end of our nation and it is the reason so many leftest, statist, and outright communists are attracted to working in the government.

Even though this happened in Cali and will be interesting to watch if the charges stick, I have noticed something else much more interesting while following the sig brace since I first saw it for sale on a pistol in Academy last year. A lot of people are being very vocal about saying fuck it, screw the ATF on this, and are being pretty ballsy about admitting they will keep doing it. I see this on several message boards, and also in the comments on various gun blog articles. People haven't done that in these numbers before that I can recall regarding the ATF, and especially nfa items. Sure, there are a lot of people who probably have unregistered sbrs and such but are probably quiet about it. The sig brace is different though. Alot of people seem to not care anymore, at least about these items, even though violation would theoretically have the same consequences. That is the interesting part to me, aside from the fact the ATF has dug a hole for themselves demonstrating the NFA laws are pretty stupid.

Personally I think they fucked up allowing it in the first place, now they are trying to un-fuck it.

I liken it to being able to own a full auto, but you can't shoot it on full auto. Stupid. Totally

                                unenforceable.
