Get a real leather gun belt, not a thick regular belt. Gun belts will have better stitching and reinforced leather (2 piece laminated design).

I've got a Crossbreed gun belt and a Uncle Mike's Reinforced Instructor Belt. My Crossbreed I wear 95% of the time CCW (pretty much anytime I'm out of the house) and the Mike's for training and 5% CCW. Both are extremely comfortable and hold the gun just fine at my 3:30-4 position IWB CB-Supertuck, 4" XD40. My common attire for CCW is pants/shorts with an undershirt and XL shirt on top. Winter, I still IWB, but let the coat or vest be the concealing agent.

Being a new CCW, it will FEEL awkward and does take time getting used to the feeling. If you have a quality gun belt, most of the brick feeling is in your head, versus your pants coming down. My $0.02.

buy a small pistol that fits in your pocket. I honestly don't get bothered by it.

I've thought about the revolver route, shot a buddy's SW 38sp with 1" barrel and the thing was a hand cannon. Absolutely no fun to even practice with at the range. But then maybe I'm just a pussy lol
it's downright painful to shoot... but it's not my pleasure shooter. it's for self defense

The thing that makes a real belt is the material. Double layer bullhide or horsehide. I bought mine from A Better Belt in Houston, and it rocks. IWB is a way bigger pain to carry than OWB. If you can hide something in an OWB high-ride, do it. Believe it or not, I have found two really cheap padded nylon IWB holsters that hide my Commander pretty damn well. The single clip medium slide from Tagua hid that pistol all the way to Denver, and for all day carry, their NDC (Nylon Dual Clip - really creative) was great.

A lot has to due with gun as well. It took me three guns and 4 holsters to be comfortable. I carry a sub-compact 9mm now. It weighs a 1.5lbs with the holster and 11 rounds. Thats with regular belt and im 6"2' 165lbs with no ass.

Im going to guess its the belt not helping to distribute the weight. Do you clip the holster over the belt or under? if its under try going over so that the weight is pulling on the belt and not just the pants

I have three heavy guns, and I can carry all three, all day long with nice holsters and my bullhide belt.

I've never had a problem carrying either my Kel Tec PF9 or my SW M&P Shield 40 at the 6 oclock position (center of back IWB) using an Elite beltclip holster or my Sticky clipless holster that I carry now. Every once in a while when I'm just running into a store real quick I drop the 40 in my back pocket but generally don't carry that way. I've never found a comfortable IWB solution for front or side carry...but thats just me.

Two in belt holsters, and one in a shoulder holster. Shit, I guess I have 4. I always forget I have two Ruger Blackhawks. I guess I could carry them however I pleased, with 4. Who would stop me?

This is why I now carry a LCP in pocket holster. I have a xds, g27 and several other carry class pistols put never carried due to size/weight.
