  • Mossberg 500 Folding Stock

I'm looking for a folding stock for my Mossberg 500. I prefer the top folders like the one below. Anyone have any experience with this one? If so, what are your thoughts? Also interested in any alternatives that any of you have experience with. TIA.

    One I am looking at:
Advanced Technology International Mossberg 500 535 590 835 12 Gauge Ambidextrous Stock + Ultimate Arms Gear Care and Reel Silicone Lubricated Cleaning Cloth 12" x 14"

I have a side folder and don't like it for many reasons.
    1. My trigger hand hits the stock when folded.
    2. The stock feels flimsy when unfolded.
    3. The butt of the stock is hard plastic and rather thin. This makes for a heck of an impact when put up to my shoulder.

If I ever get another, I'll look for an over the top model with a padded but stock.
    Interested in your findings.

No padding on the stock was one thing I was worried about, and the one i linked above does not appear to have any. And based on the way it folds, I doubt I can add any.

My thing is that I have both a pistol grip, and the full normal stock, but would like to be able to have both options without having to swap them back and forth.

I can't say what would be a better one, bit I had that same one on mine when I had my 500, and hated it.
It's flimsy, doesn't seem to lock in the folded position well, and very uncomfortable to shoot when extended. I'd keep looking around if I were you.

I think I still have that ATI stock from my 500. With it unfolded, it ate into my thumb when I shot it. $25 and you can have it to try...Assuming I still have it, which I will verify when I get home later.

Edit, also, I did not observe it to be flimsy IMO...

Checked everywhere, guess I don't have it any longer...

I noticed mine eating into my thumb as well. Flimsy may not have been the best choice of words. I don't know, it just felt cheap to me. I generally wasn't happy with it.
Looking back, the Choate probably would have been the better way to go.

Because you have it to me, and I have it to my father if memory serves correct.
