  • What's so special about the Python?

So I've always heard about how prized the Colt Python is but I have no idea why. So what gives?

Figured some of the python fans might take interest in this. Gun stories on the outdoor channel today will be about the Python. http://www.downrange.tv/blog/gun-stories-online-colt-python/30549/

http://www.chuckhawks.com/colt_python_revolvers.htm I always liked this summary as it covers some little known intricacies of the Python.

Think of them as an affordable Korth or Janz.

I have never heard of a Janz before. Care to elaborate?

Hand made German revolvers that command a high price tag just like Korth.

Also available in .500 Smith and Wesson

Pythons are awesome because Rick Grimes uses one.

Oh great; one more nearly unobtainable revolver for me to lust after and buy. Do the have a US distributor that you know of? If they do I hope they are not as flaky as Korth USA.

Good write up although I'm not sure if it might have been a little unbiased. I probably should have done some Google searching before posting up but I also wanted to hear what other's on here had to say about it.

I've never shot a Python before but now I want to just to see what all the hype is about. At CJ's last range GTG I shot someone's Dan Wesson. It was only a .22 LR but GD that was the smoothest revolver trigger I've ever had a chance to shoot. I'm certain the bigger caliber DW's are no different and they deserve their hype as well. It's made my list of guns I would love to own now.

Jose, I've never shot one, but I did finger fuck one a little one day, and It was a marked difference in craftsmanship feel vs. my smiths.

I want one, but the list of guns that I want only to never/rarely fire is lengthy, so saying I want one doesn't speak to much

LMAO! You and me both on having a "realistic" list. Reading that article that DOHCTR shared, I didn't know they made Python's in a small barrel before. It's on a short list of revolvers I would love to own, like a Gemini Custom Ruger.

If you want a Korth you fly to Germany to them, commision it, and import it yourself on a form 6. Same with Janz.

I looked into doing it that way but time along with other issues will not permit it. A form 6 only allows you to to import a gun every now and then and there are significant restrictions to being able to purchase the firearm while over there. The Janz comes the way I have been trying to order the Korth. I may just buy a new Janz and look for a used Korth. Thanks for the tip by the way.
