After seeing the thread on 45-70 it made a neuron in my brain fire and I remembered an article in Precision Shooting from years ago. The article was about The Second Battle of Adobe Walls in which a buffalo hunter was claimed to have shot an Indian off his horse at 1 mile. Precision Shooting set out to see if they could reporduce the shot and low and behold they did! They were able to make several hits on a horse and rider sized target with a rolling block rifle ( I don't remember the caliber). Here's a lil more about the battle

It is even more incredible when you consider that most are using home cast bullets with a very wide meplat and iron sights. I have never tried long range shooting with a 45/70 but it is defiantly on my bucket list.Originally posted by CJ View PostMagnus, I am your father.
