7.62 x 39 AR Build

Anybody done one of these or bought one complete? Any issues?

Well they are notorious for the ammo not feeding reliably due to the straight magwell. If you want 7.62x39 I would buy and AK or that other rifle that is chambered in 7.62; I can't remember the model but it seems like dohtr reviewed one and I could have sworn talisman posted that he bought one.

One of the least expensive yet reliable 7.62x39 rifles to similar to the AK is the Czech VZ58, similar in style but it uses a short stroke gas piston.

My Century Zastava AK47 shoots and feeds flawlessly round after round.
My SKS is a bit heavy...but it shoots and feeds just as well.

Only catch about the VZ58 is none of the parts can interchange with an AK platform rifle correct?

I believe so, but that isn't really a catch. Just a different design. That would the same as complaining that your AR15 doesn't use the same parts as your M1A.

7.62x39

I've done 3, the first 2 were New Frontier poly lower's from a group buy on here and the 3rd was on a Spikes lower. All the uppers were from model 1 and all will eat anything you throw in them from a 10 rd mag. We haven't been able to find any reliable 20's or 30's. All have been FTE issues. All were built for $600 or less w/o optics when the prices were inflated.

i have a standard PSA lower and a SOTA x39 upper
no problems yet , everything works perfect and accuracy seems pretty good
but I've only gone to range once with it.
using ASC mags, which seem ok

7.62x39 ar run just fine, just buy good parts. Good magazines and a quality bolt are the key to making them work.
