Does anyone have any first hand experience with these efforts? I have a Ruger M77 tang safety and a synthetic stock that I'd like to try my hand and am just starting my research. Best practices? Products to stay away from, etc?

There are tons of different thoughts and stuff to get. I've used the Brownells kit and it works well. I've used jb weld and some other stuff as well. Best thing is to use a good release agent. Be it shoe polish or a spray oil and fill any voids with putty or playdo (sp?) That you don't want filled or stuff stuck in."It's another burrito, it's a cold Lone Star in my hand!"

The stock has a a lot of void area in the forearm area. I've seen some suggestions on using aluminum arrows, cut to length, to add rigidity. Thoughts on this idea and the kits with the most material so I can fill these voids? Or am I over thinking this?Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

I saw the rod suggestions too. I have enough of those that I might go that route. However, you can't argue the arrow rigidity vs rods. Oh well, I'll probably just try the arrow and chalk it up to experience if I screw it up. The stock was free so I won't be out much.
I'll get some pics of the stock when I get home tonight.Last edited by Darren M; 12-16-2014, 03:15 PM.Originally posted by Taya Kyle, American GunThere comes a time when honest debate, serious diplomatic efforts, and logical arguments have been exhausted and only men and women willing to take up arms against evil will suffice to save the freedom of a nation or continent.

Here's a pic of the stock. I have a few more but this one is pretty good. I tested the rigidity by just trying to bend the fore grip and found it didn't flex as much as I thought it did. The receiver area bends but honestly, there isn't much in that area. I think a good bed and float will do wonders. Now, the bitch is the M77 recoil log bolt area is slanted and the magazine well is massive. It is going to require some serious modeling clay work.
