im new to the ar15 world..i know way behind the times. my rifle will be finished up this weekend hopefully. so now im looking into optics. ive youtube'd myself crazy trying to see what i like.
i have a lead on a NIB trijicon acog i can pickup for $950. or a aimpoint pro for $400. i know both of these are great optics, with the acog being 4x magnified. but im also seeing good reviews on vortex strikefire and primary arms red dots.
my question about the non-magnified optics. how far out can you shoot with them accurately? if im shooting 100+ yards would there be much help by getting a 3x magnifier such as the primary arms one? or is the acog the holy grail and way to go?
i will mainly be plinking targets, but the occasional hog hunts...and god forbid SHTF one day.
looking for some learning from you guys. thanks in advance.
