sounds like the designs need to get away from having any sort enclosed end. So if the user chooses to rest the weapon on his shoulder its on the buffer tube and not on the brace

seems silly. By that logic you could reverse it on them and take an SBR and magically turn it into a pistol simply by not shouldering the stock, or grabbing a vertical foregrip. That seems to be te logic they are using here.

One saving grace is Sig has sold a TON of their pistols with this brace installed already and would either have to be grandfathered or a huge problem to deal with so many out in the wild.

I would also imagine the ATF would have to observe you using the weapon in the incorrect manor to prosecute. They can't just ASSume you are and judge you guilty.

Either way, looks like the experiment might come to an end....that sucker is a PITA to remove too!

And for the future, will we see 3" diameter pistol buffer tubes soon?!

SIG has stopped selling the brace just by itself. The next version also includes a pistol buffer that is optimized for the brace. I think this was done with some pressure by the atf because people were using rifle buffers and creating 'intent'

This is exactly what is so ridiculous about the entire thing. Either it is OK to shoulder all braces, or it isn't. They are either all OK to put on all weapons, or they aren't. Saying you can shoulder some but not others is like saying some rifles can have barrels under 16" and not be an SBR, but some can't.

What I love is all the posts on the Internet of people shooting their pistols shouldered. All I can think about is how there a felons-law abiding citizens-felons-law abiding citizens-felons, etc. I would not put it past the atf to one day start hauling folks into court over them.

Neither would I, but maybe this is what it will take to get the sbr/sbs portion of the nfa overturned. This one item has single handedly demonstrated how incompetent and idiotic the ATF is, along with how stupid the sbr law is. Maybe it is a shot?

You are forgetting that each stamp is 200 bucks. They make money on NFA items. It is driven by revenue.

They will not stop that gravy train.
