Again, printing still gets you a hassle, and possibly a ride. Just because there isnt a penalty doesn't mean you are free to print.

IDK.. In my own myopic view, I have not heard of anyone be hassled or taken for a ride for printing, at least not since the change.

I am for open carry because being forced to hide them makes them no more safe, it just makes people with an irrational fear feel better. That is why open carry should be allowed.

The only worry I have now with printing is if I am in a business (store / restaurant) and they can see I have a firearm, they may choose to ask me to leave.

Hell, I'm sure I was printing at least some at the Fair this year as I was only wearing a t shirt.

I think if/when this does become law, you will see a lot of open carry.....initially. Then it will trail off once the newness wears off.

I probably will not open carry, but really haven't given it that much thought.

Yeah.. And there will probably be at least a few cities that ban it within their limits, which would likely be within their power, like Denver, CO did. I could see Austin, Dallas and Houston all doing that.

I was with an out-of-state vendor for lunch yesterday and he pointed out a person that was OC'ing that was leaving the restaurant. It's a local dive that I have frequently seen plain clothes come in and OC a lot. I had to point out it was probably a LEO since Texas doesn't allow OC (yet). That said, nobody ever is concerned nor seems to notice the OC.

I've been in Nevada at local Wal-Marts and grocery stores and saw people OC and there's never any concern by the patrons. Only once, actually, at a Panda Express did one person (apparently not from Nevada) ask a OC about it, who informed them about the state laws and then the "incident" was over.

Not if the state law it written like the current CHL laws where state law trumps local laws and ordinances.

Just make sure there are no loopholes for any preemption law. Colorado has preemption for firearm laws but Denver successfully challenged it and won. I haven't read the details though.

The Texas Senate gave initial approval Monday to a bill allowing for holstered handguns to be openly carried, turning aside a flurry of amendments from Democrats in a series of party-line votes. On a 20-11 vote, the Senate?s Republicans approved Senate Bill 17, with final passage likely for Tuesday, the same day a House

Finally I can carry guns like fashion accessories. I think a c96 broomhandle and a hipster moustache are in order. It fires .30 Mauser, you've probably never heard of it.

The bill, approved on a party-line 20-11 vote, would be effective on Jan. 1, 2016. Texans can already carry long guns, such as rifles, openly.

It answers Dennis' question, so rather than cut and plate, I linked.
