  • AAC supressors

I am looking at a AAC 7.62-SDN-6. Does anyone have one? I am interested how or if they need cleaning. After CJ's thread on his, I am hesitant to buy one that does not state how it is cleaned.
    I don't believe that the SDN-6 breaks down...................anyone?

They don't need to be cleaned. Only one that needs cleaning is a .22lr suppressor.

      I thought so, just checking.

Liberty and Thompson Machine both make centerfire suppressors that can be disassembled and cleaned. Centerfire suppressors are supposed to be maintenance free, but I don't believe that myself. Just look at the end of your barrel after firing several hundred rounds; there is fouling expelled and it adds up over time. I plan on buying a suppressor or two this year and I will be buying one that can be cleaned. The way I see it if I am wrong and it never needs it I didn't really spend any more money, but if it ever does need it then I can do it. They are time consuming to buy and I feel better safe than sorry.

I like the AAC because I have the 51t adapter on a lot of my guns. 300blk,5.56 and my one for my M1A. Do you know if Liberty/Thompson are 51T compatible?
Also this 7.62 is down caliber usable. I will get one for my Ruger MKIII(Sparrow).Trying to get as few as possible.

So all jacketed rounds do not deposit lead into the silencer? Looks like the Liberty are no longer take-apart.

The Thompson Machine----"Thirsty" is take-apart and 7.62 and down usable.

Anything that might shoot cast bullets needs to be serviceable. If it's going to shoot jacketed bullets it is okay being sealed. My thoughts on AAC - overpriced and underperforming. The 762 SDN is a very heavy can. I would suggest holding a titanium can at the same time before you buy just to make sure you know what you're getting into.

I missed the 7.62 part; I had been looking into 5.56 suppressors and both companies make serviceable models to use with .22lr as well which is what I had been looking at.

The -6 is new. It is shorter and lighter than the SDN. I can get one new for 725.99.

I really think you should hear a 6" .308 can before you buy it. They are a LOT louder than the standard length .308 cans. But seriously, you need to hold a titanium can and a stainless can before you make your mind up.

I have the AAC 7.62-SD on order. It was on sale for $565 + the $200 credit. Figured it was a pretty good deal.

I have the AAC 7.62 SDN-6. On the weight argument I can't comment as this is the can I've had the most time with. I am very happy with the purchase. I shoot it on my 308/300blksbr/223sbr and it's quiet enough with supersonic I don't need hearing protection.

Too much honestly. The prices now from silencer shop are great. I may head out to the range this Sunday if you have your hiders you can try em. I've been meaning to rage CJ if he hasn't been.
