  • Used STI Trojan?

Found a lightly used STI Trojan for a couple bills less than new. It has the old billboard rollmarks but otherwise it looks great. My only hang up is the cast frame. Is that ridiculous or is it really worth ponying up for the Lawman or Sentry and the forged frame (~$500 more) for a range/home defense gun? This gun will get a good workout on a regular basis as my only 45 I own at the moment is my anniversary Colt and its a bit of a safe queen.

      Yes x4?

I was really just throwing the HD thing out as a possibility. I'll likely still use my USP. So to the other 3, a definite yes. That's what I asked the question for.

Trojan is the only STI I would avoid. That line is made in the Philippines and the others in Georgetown.

            It's their "economy" line...

I think the frame and slide are the only parts from the Phillipines, it's assembled here with STI small parts.

You guys are thinking of the STI Spartan. That's their budget one that is manufactured by armscorp. The Trojan is 100% manufactured and assembled in TX

If it's a model made 100% here I wouldn't have a problem picking it up if the deal was good.

                        This..

And yes, get the Trojan and don't worry about the cast frame. There are literally thousands of them that have been competition guns with 10's to 100's of thousands of rounds on them with no frame issues. A good price on it would be $900-$1k used... or they can be had for $1100ish new from dawson precision.

I think you must have seen either a used one or a Spartan... the Trojan lists for $1222 retail price and Dawson has them for $1135 which is their normal price I think.
