Sig 1911's are built just a bit different externally. Some of their models require a holster all of it's own design. There are several companies making 1911's Colt medium range guns are really nice. The TRP you mentioned is awesome but not overly common to come across. I recently got a S&W E series that's nice although it is very stiff when racking the slide back. Dan Wesson are really nice if you can find them and I'm not sure if they are still in production anymore. Kimber is very hit or miss. Another to look at is Ruger they typically make a great weapon and their 1911's should be no different.

Every few months I go on a STI hunt. It is worse now that Cabela's carries a bunch of them in stock. I am a very hands on visual person with instant gratification problems. Even though I am only home every couple of months, there is one sales guy up there that recognizes me each time I come in with "you ready to put one of those STIs on layaway?"Fuck you.
