Anyone have a link to explain the various types of steel in blades and the best uses for blade types?
I recently lost a knife (stolen at race track) and am thinking of replacing with the exact same model, however, no so sure it's worth the price for the type of stainless it uses in the blade. Below is the model I am looking at.
this knife was an impulse buy a while back and I liked it for most daily needs, however, if I am going to spend this kind of money again, I want something that will hold an edge for a long time without sharpening. I have had numerous "academy specials" from kershaw, gerber and others in the $30 range but after about 3 uses, they are dull and need resharpened. The S&W I had, seemed to hold an edge pretty well with the 30V stainless blade, but I am willing to spend a little more for an even better material. Only complaint I had was it was a little heavy to carry in lighter fabric pants.
Thanks!
