console or tucked between the seats

edit: ill add i have had to draw from my console before and it was not the best solution. the time for me to react and hop up into the seat, get the gun out and raise for aim was enough for the other guy to be too close for comfort

We usually get bulletins on these things. I don't recall that specific one, but usually all one has to do is send out an all car message and someone usually knows.

          I use a Safepacker. http://www.thewilderness.com/safepac...lment-holster/

It keep the firearm completely concealed and easy to reach position. One can also move the gun in/out of the car discretely, or just shove the whole thing under the seat.

To test its discreteness, I've had one sitting on my lap while commuting to/from work in the VRE (commuter train in NoVA) for a month and no one even as much as bat an eye. Most "gun people" couldn't tell what it is when I showed it to them. Pick a color other than "Tactical" Black and people would think you are just hauling around an iPad case.

This is one occasion where I would support open carry laws.

Yeah my wife just got new caddy with this neat feature.
You remember the stories John use to tell us about the the three chinamen playing Fantan? This guy runs up to them and says, "Hey, the world's coming to an end!" and the first one says, "Well, I best go to the mission and pray," and the second one says, "Well, hell, I'm gonna go and buy me a case of Mezcal and six whores," and the third one says "Well, I'm gonna finish the game." I shall finish the game, Doc.

I don't have anything to hide. I was just curious if LEO were notified by car manufacturers when they build stuff like that.

I did that with my 1911 everytime, the wife hated it. She thought the under the steering wheel location was cool though, unfortunately I can't get it to stick in our SUV. Most likely just rig something up.

I came across this tonight and remembered this thread. Not exactly cheap but if you use their holsters it makes for a really modular setup. Especially when open carry comes around.

Does the new Open Carry law allow for weapon storage under the steering column or is it still illegal in Texas?

I have stored mine there for over two years. I have never heard that it was illegal. No cop who has pulled me over said anything about it. They just told me to keep my hands on the wheel.

You are still required to have it concealed while in the car, unless you are wearing it. Stupid, yes, but who said the Texas legislature ever uses their head?
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.
