  • Anyone built an indoor gun range?

I'm building in a 10x100 gun range on my shop and I'm trying to find details on what everyone uses etc. I would love to make it 50bmg capable(for mild sighting in).

This is more or less private, but when I get my FFL I want to be able to take people back there to fire a few shots on with their guns if they wanted.

I bet there are a ton of regulations for indoor shooting ranges from the local to the federal level. Cross your t's and dot your i's. The EPA doesn't fuck around.

This being private rural area I really don't have to deal with the EPA. I was just getting ideas for back stops etc.

You shouldn't be worried about the epa, you should be worried about all of us wanting to use your range

From what I have been reading, just put a shit load of sand down at the end.

Local one here has a bunch of dirt but also has a big chunk of steel angled down from the roof to funnel bullets into the dirt.

I have a 1" plate angled forward with concrete sand in front. Sand about 10' thick at base. The concrete sand never packs in hard so it absorbs the bullet very well.
I have railroad ties holding the sand on the sides and base at front. Its also covered so it never gets wet.
