Does Ruger make threaded barrells or is that all aftermarket?
Do not be afraid to swap barrels on a 10/22. It's the easiest barrel swap ever. Easier than even a Savage bolt action.

Thanks for the heads up. I did not know that; you just saved me time and money when I get around to buying one.

I've been thinking about selling mine, not sure if I should. Probably wouldn't get enough out of it to merit the sale.

LOL! What kind do you have and how much would you sell it for? Completely kicking tires here

On another note I remember a friend of mine telling me that there was a certain year/ serial number that was better than others because for some reason he thought they were made better. Any truth to this? Is there a certain lot I should be steering clear of?

They all work the same. The big change for the 10/22 was in 2007 they started using polymer FCG's. The older models have aluminum FCG's. Overall there is no real difference between the two, just people's perception. That and trigger stop/set screws don't work very well on polymer FCG's since they dig in.

I have no idea what to ask for it. Still being a woman and can't make my mind up, but I had $500 in my mind. Barrel is cut and threaded to 16" with a stainless flash hider, receiver refinished as brushed, bolt jeweled and chamfered, bolt hold open modification, clark custom adjustable trigger, extended mag release, brushed aluminum FCG, brushed aluminum rail, polymer stock, few other things.

Well this is what I ended up with. Woodstock Carbine model 10/22 with a Tasco Golden Antler optic mounted on weaver 1inch rings that let you shoot with the iron sights still. Pretty happy with it and while I don't think I got a killer deal or anything I feel I paid about what it's worth. The only thing I really don't like about it is all he had was the extended mag so I'm going to have to buy a box mag.

Soooo anyone have a box mag they want to sell or trade for?

Also are all 10/22 slide releases kind of clumsy? I guess I'm just used to slide releases being easy and straight forward to operate.

Yes, once you read how that rocker works it makes sense. You can order a pair of box mags on cabelas for just a few bucks.

Replace it with an auto bolt release, they are only a few bucks and make a world of difference.
