I ended up with an M1A for my 308 fun. It's probably because I did shoot the M14 in the Navy. I have ARs too. The 223 platforms are much lighter. I'm glad I built a 16" AR in 6.8 spc. I think it's a great compromise between light and firepower. It is what I will grab if the SHTF and I have to go go go. I'm going to put a 4X32 Trijicon ACOG on it soon and be happy with it if I really need something for defense.

The wife is getting a 16" 223 AR with an ACOG.

308 rifles are big and heavy, but they are a lot of fun to shoot.

Without question a 17s for me. 308, minimal recoil, very accurate. Very light weapon with a lot of firepower.

yep, definitely light guns. It's just a shame they are so large. It makes you appreciate just how minimalist the AR design is.

I can see this being a problem for me, but you make a M4 look like a squirt gun.

Well I took the plunge on a 17. Not sure what to think about the pistol grip and forearm. Probably going to go back to all black and get a vertical grip. Right now I just threw on my aimpoint comp m4 site on it. Hope to take this thing out this week!

Very nice. While it is a tad bulky, the lightweight aspect makes up for it. IMHO

Change to black and you look to be set to go.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I think it looks badass with the light colored controls. Sweet rifle.

Since big battle rifles are being discussed. Has anyone played with an Ohio Ordinance BAR? I like the idea of 30-06 brass littering the ground.

It is ok. I am just not a flashy guy. Not big on the grey color. I like fde and dark greens, things that might help a little with camo.

Yeah, I'd switch those out myself.

What do you guys think of a setup with a
3.5-15x50mm NF F1 MLR or MOAR in a LT104* and Trijicon RMR Sight Adjustable (LED) - 3.25 MOA Red Dot. With a larue mount of course. That would be over 2k more, but looks like a great setup.

That's a very large optic for a battle rifle
