    Magpul BUIS - Shooting High

    Greetings,
    I'm a little stumped on this problem I have with an AR. It has the standard front sight (not on rail, but attached to barrel) for the front. In the rear I put on a magpul flip up and a Vortex Strikefire. This weekend I was trying to zero the "irons" first before worrying about the red dot.

    It start out really high, so I continually adjust the front site and basically another 1/2 turn and it would have popped out. At this point it was still very high (shooting over target) and I was stumped.

    Other than buying a rear backup site with elevation adjustment does anyone have any other suggestions? I've never had this problem with an AR, but it is the first time trying to use backup sights and this situation.

    Any help is appreciated.

    I'm assuming since you are saying it was about to pop out, you were screwing the front sight out (raising it higher) ?

              no that's right, F.O.R.S, front opposite, rear same. Meaning, to change point of impact, you adjust the front sight opposite, the rear sight the same direction.

              If you want to go down on you POI (like the op) you would adjust the front sight up.

              First thing is do you have an F stamped front sight block? And secondly is this a real magpul BUIS, or one of the very fucking hard to differentiate airsoft ones?

                  I'm a little confused...gonna have to find a picture somewhere.

                      I was wrong, for some reason I had it flipped in my mind. CJ has some valid points.

                        No problem gents - that does make sense and I drew myself a picture.

                        Still not sure why I could not adjust enough to get where I needed to be - As far as I know the magpul sights should be fine.

                            Did you buy the sight new?

                            What upper is on it? Are you sure it is a F marked front sight?

                              I'll validate the sight tonight. I was very careful to buy the real version of the magpul as well.

                              In regards to the front sight - that could be an anomaly. I obtained the upper out of trade for something else, so I do need to check on that.
