If you have a place to shoot in Midland your welcome to shoot it, I let my membership expire at Midland Shooters when they doubled the price.

I have a K frame that is a pre model 19 that is outstandingly smooth. Granted it came out of their custom shop back in the day but it is as smooth as any Python I've handled.

Been thinking about getting a GP100, too. I'm leaning towards the 6" version. Be a little more pleasurable to shoot 357 out of than one with a shorter barrel. GP100 frame is bigger than I'll ever carry, so might as well go big.

my exact reasoning for buying the 6 too.

                      god bless.

If it's a full frame, full weight gun, any barrel length is completely tame in my opinion. I've found only the air weights are uncomfortable. My mother in law shoots my SP101 w/ 2.5" barrel with stupid hot .357 rounds and she has never complained.

Pretty sure my 45 kicks more than the gp100 6" with standard 357 loads

Says the guy who shoots his .500 s&w hot loads all day. One round of that and I am fine never shooting another one.

The 27 was around way before the Python.

I'm using the python as a watermark for quality, not chronology. Hence the "a python" for the 27 and "the python" for the M73. But you are correct, the 27 was much earlier. Use to be known as the registered magnum, Patton had one. They are difficult to find in good shape. At least, I've had some trouble finding one.
