    Yes 50 offhand shots would be tiring with a 30lb rifle. They don't kick at all, but it is difficult to aim a 30lb rifle with a scope. I can tell you right now your back would be sore.

        Had a blast and learned alot for my first match. I sure didnt come in first though, I dont really care as I feel it was a very productive day considering.

        Anyways, they are going to do another in September (between Dove and Turkey) and dont have any dates nailed down as of yet. We did get a chance to provide some feedback at the end and open sights, tannerite and moving targets were all suggestions. Though, the moving targets part is probably a no go due to cost.

        We had a police officer there, three Richarson firefighters and several others.


        Anyways, here are some photos:









        This guy could shoot. He was running some form of 260 on a RS chassis and was nailing the 250yd 1MOA targets at a rate of one shot every 1.5seconds. His prep time and shooting time combined was 28seconds.

          All targets were AR500 steel, we had prairie dog poppers, Deer with vitals, fox with vitals, a Ferris Wheel, several stages of varying difficulty. A couple of stages had 4 targets (KYL) starting with a 10" plate, 6" plate, 4" plate, 2" Plate and if you missed once, all points and your turn are gone.

          The furthest distance was 300yds though we did setup a tie breaker at 600yds.

              One of the guys there had a 300win mag in a GAP Chassis with a MASSIVE NF scope on top. The rifle weighed in at about 33lbs and he was using that bad boy for sitting, kneeling and off hand shots on some of the stages. He weighed about 165lbs and came in second...SMH

                We missed the rain too. LOTS of good fun and we all just hung around shooting whatever at the end. This was off CR3835 and CR3805 outside of Wolf City. Took me about 1hr and 35min to get there and home but it was well worth it.


                Hell, just to escape the city was nice enough, I got to go shoot too!! lol

                    When I ran a map it said around 3 hrs for me. I looked into getting a hotel room but didn't have a for sure notice I would be free so I couldn't commit.

                      Oh, I completely understand, 3 hrs one way is a hell of a drive; I think the furthest person was from Burleson.

                      Though, the next one is is September sometime...so now you have plenty of notice, lol

                              Depending on what you like you could jump into the prs (precision rifle series) it is similar but with running and longer shots involved. Around this time of year some informal bench type shooting starts up in Spanish Fort and in Graham. The one in Spanish Fort is 250 yards shooting clay pigeons. It is also broken into factory and custom rifle to make things a little bit more fair.
