We should go to the metroplex, buy an assload of ammo and try to put that guy out of business, or break his kneecaps for creating an artificial shortage.

That was BlackGT, he part times there from time to time during the holiday season. His last day was a week or 2 ago.

This one is lasting longer than any I can remember. .22LR is different in that it can't be reloaded, it's the cheapest ammo there is, and it's the most popular caliber. Those two combined causes a much higher demand than any other.
The thing that baffles me is that I don't hardly see people shooting .22 at all.

It wasn't. That was the most abundant caliber. Really weird the reverse this time. But I guess they figured out that the most shot caliber albeit cheap could still see a 100% return on investment, because even still it would be cheaper to shoot than say 5.56 or even 5.45 hence why the price of that is still high. I remember before the shooting a box of 525 round value packs would sell off at 15 a box. I even left a box almost full in Oregon by a shooting spot before the shooting.

I think these people getting to the stores as soon as the ammo hits the shelf are like unicorns. There is a conspiracy here somewhere. Either that or closets all over America are beaming with .22lr ammo.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

One thing you also have to remember, profits are higher on larger caliber rounds, so why make $5 producing .22 when you can make $10 making 9mm/40/45.

I pointed this out a few months back and was quickly told that I didn't know what the fuck I was talking about.

It's an easy assumption to make, and all things being equal, it would most likely be true, but everyone that makes rimfire ammo is running 24/7, and some of them, like CCI, are adding machines. The industry got caught with its pants down, this time. I personally blame the Discovery Channel. The stupid people that watch shit like Doomsday Preppers are too suggestible, so when some asshole says, "get a bajillion .22's," they go out and get everything they can lay hands on. It's ridiculous.

I won't buy any markup crap. I need some 22 lr, but not bad enough to over pay for it.

Went to Elm Fork this afternoon with my nephews to shoot my 10/22. I swear half of the rifles on the 25/50 yard range were .22's (with the guy shooting next to us had a Tavor). Anyway I have forgotten how fun it was to shoot a .22 rifle. Definitely need to get more range time with my nephews and the 10/22.

That's good to know, I'll have to keep an eye open for it now.
