  • proper recoil spring for a gen 3 G35

Mine says 5578 but it might say 5579 (which is proper apparently). I don't believe this is the right one. I am having issues with it FTF. I have ruled out magazines (run 3 brand new gen 4 mags thru it with the proper #9 follower and #11 springs plus older gen3 mags) and it still FTF. I have also ran federal, wolf, american eagle, ultramax, speer, and winchester ammo with no difference. Let me know what recoil spring it needs. Remember, gen3 is completely different then gen4 springs. Thanks! Here's a vid from yesterday at the range.

not sure what a recoil spring has to do with ftf unless it's not cycling a new round, but you should be able to find your factory recoil spring here. if youre getting light primer strikes, maybe a heavier firing pin spring will solve your problem

Well as the video shows, the round begins its travel up the feed ramp and stops once it enters the chamber. Exposing the round from the top and side of the slide. That to me is a FTF. Its the new round that u see in the vid. Not a spent round. The primers seem to have a nice solid strike mark which doesn't lead me to believe its got a light primer strike. I'm trying to avoid sending it back to glock just for times same.

interesting. i would think if the spring would chamber the round that far it would be able to drive it home the rest of the way. is your feed ramp all crudded up? maybe polish your feed ramp and see if that does anything before you buy a new spring.

Feed ramp is good. Good and shiney... Thats what kills me. No burrs in the chamber either. Just stops right there. Every jam. Very frustrating.

My G35 has the 5579 guide rod in it. Let me know if you want to borrow it to troubleshoot your gun.

Nah yale. Ive had her for 3+ years. Used it on patrol and swat. Put it up in the closet for over a year when I switched dept. Stored in my closet, slide forward, and in its case. Was going to sell it to get a diff pistol since I won't use it on patrol anymore. Took it shooting and that happened.
