      How are you going to bang it up? You have to try really hard to miss pushing those pins.

        Just solder a small extension on the end of the pins. You can grind down the edges and then powder coat the pins so that they look nice. You could also tap the pins (with a tiny tap) and make a small extension that could be screwed on and off.

        Metal is easy to work with; you just have to spend time with it.
