What's everyone's thoughts on modding their EDC weapon? Mine was my Springfield XDS but after I got it back from the trigger recall, I hate it. The trigger pull is double what it used to be and for some reason (probably because of trigger) I can't hit shit with it at the range. It used to be my favorite gun before and I was deadly accurate, just point and shoot and I wouldn't miss. PRP makes a trigger/grip safety spring kit to lighten it up some. I'm debating whether or not I should do it and if it will remain reliable and if I can trust it for my EDC. Reviews of the spring kit seem fine except for the few that are having light strikes (ftf) on the primer because of the striker spring being a little light and an issue only on reloads which I don't shoot . Or do I just get rid of the gun and buy something else. FYI trigger pull went from 4 . 5lbs pre to 8 lbs post recall

I'm not carrying yet but for me, I want a short, smooth, tigger pull, and a crisp trigger break. Unless the trigger is stupid heavy, I'm not too concerned with the weight of the trigger as much as I am the pull and break of the trigger.Originally posted by JesterEvery time you see the fucking guy....show him your fucking dick.. Well I'll give it that it does have a crisp break and reset but the pull kinda Sucks. It's about 1/2" of free play and then it hits a wall before it breaks. Almost like a 2 stage trigger2002 4.6L 5spd S281

See the correction I made to my statement, I just read what I wrote and realized it didn't come out the way I was thinking it in my head.

I haven't done any mods to my EDC. It's a Kahr PM40 and while the trigger is long and somewhat heavy, there's no external safety on it. And I can hit within a 4-6" circle at 10 yards with no problem and full defense loads. It's not a gun for long range and wouldn't be used as such so I'm pretty happy with it.
That said, I used to have a full sized XD with a Canyon Creek trigger job which was awesome! About as close to a 1911 trigger as you can get in that gun. I'm sure they have a carry/tactical type trigger job they can perform for you to get you back to loving the gun.Originally posted by stevoNot a good idea to go Tim 'The Toolman' Taylor on the power phallus.

I like a stock carry piece. Imo, messing with it out of manufacturer specs means a higher probability to jam/mess up (Springfield/Glock and whoever else has a whole team of engineers that make sure their design is optimal, while X aftermarket company may have two guys who make sure the pull is lighter and then sell it). Second, if you shoot someone with a customized gun, the prosecutor will make it looke like you shot Trayvon with an evil souped up murderizer.
If you want stock, compact, and reliable, then get a damn wheel gun.Originally posted by lincolnboyAfter watching Games of Thrones, makes me glad i was not born in those years.
