Sure, there are plenty of guns that are easier to hide. My point was, a P229 is pretty close to a P226, as far as that goes. The P229 can even use P226 magazines.

true that. just saying if he wants a 9mm sig to carry, i believe the 239 is the smallest traditional sig (da/sa with the decocker).

my dad is a sig nut. has a p226, 239, west german p220, 229, and another full size .45 that i dont believe they produce anymore. cant remember what it is

We carried Sig 226's for about 8 years and those guns were damn near flawless. I only ever saw one failure and it was due to a plastic guide rod. The SA/DA has saved lives I promise you. Plus the first pull is a little long but then the next 12 or so is like a 1911. Not to mention even though the first pull is long, it is still smooth and consistent.

Exactly. The whole reason the first pull is long, is so no one gets twitchy and shoots someone accidentally during a confrontation.

Guess off to Plan B, a Glock 19/23.

                  Sig P210 is best Sig.

What's the difference in the regular 226 and the spec ops? We have the Spec ops at Academy with a price of $1,099, but I don't know much about the sigs to know why the price is so much more than a regular 226.

It's a little extra hype. All of them are stainless, even the black guns, and they all have some form of coating. I wouldn't pay extra for the Tac-Ops package. All you get for the extra coin is an equinox-style day/night sight, and a 20rd. magazine. They all have tritium sights, they all come with at least two mags, and they're starting to all come with the short reset trigger package. I'd like to eventually add an SAO Elite or a Dark Elite to the stable. Save your pennies for cool stuff, like a threaded barrel, or the real expense associated with Sigs: magazines.

The spec ops comes with 4 20rd mags. Not that the extra 2 mags makes up for the difference in price...

                            Kinda late but... I had a P226 in .40.

I'm not fond of the DA/SA design. I don't carry the Sig around nor is it my nightstand gun. It's a range gun for lane shooting, for all intents and purposes. My carry gun has and always will be an SA.

I knew a guy who shot IDPA with a DA/SA Beretta 92. I asked him why not switch to an SA for better accuracy on the first shot. He said he carries a DA/SA gun so for IDPA, he just knows his first shot will be a -1. Fair enough.

The P226 heavy and built like a tank. If weight is a big factor to you, you'll favor your Glock. It's also big. If you have small hands, you'll favor your pocket guns.

The grip is huge, bore center is really high. Limp wristing results in FTF.
great guns, high prices, mags not as easy to find as glock.

DA/SA trigger takes some getting used to. The short reset triggers help A LOT with travel to reset for follow up shots.

that being said, I have shot a 239, 228 and a 220 in competition. I now shoot a G34 or my factory 19C, 22C. The trigger being the same for every shot makes a huge difference and my follow ups with the glocks are much better. Only other gun that compares for follow up shots is my RIA 9mm 1911. That things shoots so soft it's awesome!

Now, if I could snag a 226 in decent condition for $550....heck yeah!
