  • cleanest pistol ammo?

I know we are grabbing up mostly anything we can right now but which on the shelf ammo out there is the cleanest?

I know Winchester White Box is some of the dirtiest, but what brands out there are the cleanest after you day at the range?!

Post up brand, caliber and any other info you feel important.

It comes down to the type of powder used. Generally extruded powders burn cleaner. Ball powder burns dirtier. Most US produced powders use wood cellulose, which is cheap. European powder makers use cotton cellulose which is more expensive. Wood cellulose powders do not burn nearly as cleanly as the cotton cellulose powders.

My personal experience from looking at cases leads me to believe speer lawman clean-fire has some of the cleanest burning powder. Usually speer cases are fucking sparkly clean inside. That is by design the cleanest firing pistol ammo there is.

I have approximately 3500+ 9mm brass ready to load and about 2500 bullets, primers and powder. Need to find time!

I found me some WWB .40 today at academy at the back of the shelf all lonely. No price labels and had to get a price check and the guy was like, "where did you find that?!". EVERY other pistol round was a HP or defensive round. No regular ball ammo on the shelf.

I also recently came across a bunch of Lake City .223 brass, some .50AE and a lot of .45ACP brass.

Trust me, I am stockpiling anything I can but mostly just want to stay away from stuff that is going to take 3X longer than normal to clean the gun....especially the 1911's.

HyperClean ammo is about the cleanest I've shot. When I bought my M9A1 the FFL said he would sell me 2 boxes of WWB 9mm for $30 (this was during the ammo shortage). When he went to grab it he came back with the HyperClean XTP and apologized that he was out of WWB and sold it to me for the same price.

FYI, there's a dude on THF selling 5000 small pistol primers for $145. That's about as cheap as it gets right now.

wideners has wolf small pistol for $23.00 a box, but you will about break even/slightly less with hazmat, I would order at least 10k and save some bank. That's a good local "get it now" price though.

I was surprised Academy had small pistol primers today. Winchester brand, blue box and $5.99 for 100. Seemed high but they had probably 25ea, 100qty cards or so.

Sort of my same thought and likely why it was still on the shelf. However, if you just HAD to have some.

The Academy in Lewisville where I work part time has Winchester Small Pistol, large pistol mag, and large rifle primers. 100/box/pack for $3.99. $39.90/1000.

Like another poster mentioned, I am good on brass, primers, bullets and powder. Its time I can't seem to find any of. Not even online.
