Decide what you want to shoot with it. Both are really different rounds, and do really different things. The 6.5 is a long distance shooter. The .300blk shines with heavy bullets at subsonic speeds. If you want to compare them directly, their primary differences are in cost and availability. The .300blk beats the Grendel in both categories.

Like Yale said....two totally different rounds. I'm building a 6.5 Grendel....once my barrel shows up after being on order for over a year. The gun is being built to see just how accurate I can get an AR to be at long distances. 300 Blackout is a 300 yard and under gun in my opinion and 6.5 Grendel was designed to offer 308 ballistics on a standard size AR platform. I've never shot a 300 Blackout but it personally just holds little interest for me.

.300blk is designed for suppressed use. Different kind of caliber entirely. Using supersonic weight bullets lowers the efficiency, subsonic rounds are much more predictable and deliver more energy past 300 yards.

Deeply appreciate the comments.. Originally, the plan was for a hog/deer gun and I was leaning towards the 300, but a guy at work started showing me info on the 6.5 and now I'm not quite sure of which way to go. I doubt if I'll ever have a can, so that does change things. You that have the 300 un-suppressed are you happy with the accuracy and knock down power?? Most my hunting has been with 270, 300 Savage and 30-06..
