I have soaked the barrel in PB blaster in the past with good results.

Well took quite a few beatings but it came out. The odd part is the round never detonated, it was just a click when I pulled the trigger, but perhaps this was just the first round that did fire and not the second

Thank you all for the friendly advice

this might be a dumb question here but in the event I ever experience this, is there any chance of the stuck round firing while trying to back it out with a rod/hammer? Just doesn't seem to safe.

Not when the round fired, the rifle tried to extract it, and the case rim was ripped off.

ah, I just missed the post before mine. I was under the assumption this was the second round that failed to fire.

have to hit the primer for it to go off. Rounds are not as dangerous as people seem to think. I remember the most magnificent epic jam I've ever seen with Mr. Fiux's AK-74. You should ask him about that mess.

I saw that, I didn't understand what rim fire FTFs had to do with it.

This seems to be a lesson everyone has to learn at some point in their life. I had the exact same thing happen with a mini 14 and wolf steel ammo when I was 18, gave away all my 223 steel and the only thing I shoot steel in now is an AK.
