  • Your advise CZ

    Sorry for spelling....
Anywho. I have recently fell in love with CZ brand pistols. They are sexy looking. I am not a 9mm fan but some come in 40sw... Just want ur take on CZ. I am curently lookin at sp01, p06, phantom, etc. Anything with a light rail. Ammo isnt a concern. As for u HK fans, I aint made of money... No HK for me due to gun prices. Im looking for a fun shooter at the range. etc etc.

i had a cz 75 bd police that i liked in 9mm. imo the .40 wont be as sweet of a shooter as the 9mm.

also have a cz canvasback o/u shotgun that is my main trap gun. quality firearms at a decent price.

i dont like railed guns though, i prefer the classic look if the option is available. i just think putting a light on your pistol is kind of goofy but to each their own.

Gotcha. Lights on guns is habit for me... I don't necessarily need it but it is nice to have.

i wanted to like the p07 tactical, but my god that trigger guard ruins it for me.

think i'll just get a regular B single action for my next cz pistol

CZ pistols are great. A witness is a great option if you're on a budget. I personally do not know of any quality differences between an actual CZ and a Witness.

The CZs are awesome. Only pistol ever to pass the NATO test:

The pistol must be 100% reliable in extreme conditions, the following is a list of some of the minimum requirements.

Must be able to complete the following without failure:

                  4000 dry firings
                  3000 De-cockings
Operator level disassembly 1350 times with out ware or damage to components.
Complete disassembly 150 times, this is all the way down, pins, springs etc.
100% interchangability, any number of pistols randomly selected, disassembled, parts mixed and reassembled with no failures of any kind including loss of accuracy.

                  Safety requirements:

                  Drop test
1.5 meter (4.9”) drop test, this is done 54 times with the pistol loaded (blank) and the hammer cocked. Dropping the pistol on the butt, the muzzle, back of the slide, sides of the gun, top of the slide, in essence, any angle that you could drop the gun from. This is done on concrete and 0 failures are allowed! A failure is the gun firing.

3meter drop (9.8”) 5 times with the pistol loaded (blank) and the hammer cocked, This is done on concrete and 0 failures are allowed! A failure is the gun firing.

After these tests are complete the gun must fire without service.

The factory contracted an independent lab to do additional testing on guns that previously passed the drop tests. These pistol were dropped an additional 352 times without failure.

The pistol must also complete an environmental conditions test:
This means cold, heat, dust/sand and mud.
The pistol must fire after being frozen for 24 hours at –35C (-36F).
The pistol must fire after being heated for 24 hours at 70C (126F)
The pistol must fire after being submerged in mud, sand and combinations including being stripped of oil then completing the sand and mud tests again.

                  Service life:
The service life requirement from the Czech police was 15,000 rounds of +P ammo!
The pistol will exceed 30,000 rounds with ball 9mm.

                  Reliability:
The reliability requirements for the P-01 pistol are 99.8%, that’s a .2% failure rate.
This equals 20 stoppages in 10,000 rounds or 500 “Mean Rounds Between Failure” (MRBF)
During testing, the average number of stoppages was only 7 per 15,000 rounds fired, this is a .05% failure rate, a MRBF rate of 2142 rounds! Over 4 time the minimum acceptable requirement.
The U.S. Army MRBF requirement is 495 rounds for 9mm pistols with 115 grain Ball ammunition.

                  Heritage:
The P-01 is based on the CZ 75, the most used pistol in the world. Over 60 countries use it as the standard side arm of their Armies, National police forces, National security agencies or other Law enforcement organizations. No other pistol can make this claim.

It's also one of the most copied designs:
                    • JSL(Hereford) Ltd Spitfire
                    • Dornaus and Dixon Bren Ten
                    • IMI Jericho 941
                    • ITM AT-88
                    • Tanfoglio TZ-75, T-90, and T-95
                    • Norinco NZ-75
                    • Sphinx Systems M2000
                    • Springfield P9
                    • Sarsilmaz M2000
                    • Renato Gamba G90
                    • EAA Witness Elite Gold
                    • Canik55 Pirhana, Shark
                    • ArmaLite AR-24

Česká Zbrojovka claims the CZ 75 and variants are in service with "more Governments, Militaries, Police and Security agencies than any other pistol in the world". It is known to be in service with:
                    • Czech Republic: Police (P-01 variant introduced in 1999)
                    • Chile: Army (manufactured locally by FAMAE as the FN-750, bearing great resemblance with the Chinese-made Norinco clones and with the early Italian Tanfoglio TA-90)
                    • Finland: Customs authorities
                    • Honduras: Policia Nacional Preventiva
                    • Lithuania: Police
                    • Turkey: Police (several clones manufactured locally by factories affiliated with MKEK)
                    • United States: various Police forces
                    • Poland: Military Police (Żandarmeria Wojskowa)
                    • Slovenia: Police
                    • Iran: Army (possibly clones made in China by Norinco)
                    • Democratic People's Republic of Korea: (백두산권총, "Baek-Du San pistol", named after the "White-Headed Mountain" on the borders with China)
                    • Sudan: Army and Police (manufactured locally under license by the Military Industries Corporation, as the full-size "Marra" in 9mm and the compact-size "Lado" in .32 ACP caliber)

I really like the guns. If I had to name any shortcomings of the design, they would be a small slide which could prove difficult to grab in an emergency, the safety is higher than most guns, and the barrel is on a relatively high axis compared to most pistols, and the trigger is further forward than most. The last bit is only noticeable if you have small hands. I personally find it more comfortable.

the slide could have been a bit taller, or some more aggressive serations, but the recoil was virtually nil.

i only sold my cz pistol back then for a cz shotgun. i just tend to shoot my shotgun more often than a pistol
