I have been drooling over that gun for a month! I would want a sidefolder on that bad boy. How does the 7.62x39 stack up with that short of a barrel? It looks like you might need some flameproof gloves

It loses more velocity than .223 in short barrels, but about evens out with heavier weight bullets.

I've put a few hundred rounds through my 7.5" Mini w/ no issue. It puts out a nice fireball

I'm wondering if the handguard design on the micro is to help protect your fingers from heat from the flash hider?

Honestly, on my mini, I find myself holding the mag as a forward grip often times. As far as velocity loss through the short barrel? meh... I'm sure the ballistics border on "suck" depending on what ammo you're running, but the thing is just plain fun, and 30 rounds of 7.62x39 out of any length barrel is going to ruin somebody's day if it comes down to it.

I like the fact that I can have these things locked and loaded and legally concealed in a vehicle.

I'd wager I could do a lot more damage with one of these rigs than any of my more "traditional" pistols, so I'm fine with whatever I'm giving up over a longer barrel. I have a couple 16" AK's as well, but they never get fired because these little things are just so much fun

Is that a good or bad thing for suppressed platform? I want to build a sbr with a can but I only want to do it once.

Only thing that matters with suppressors is whether or not you're <1100fps, that's the speed of sound at 620ft elevation here in DFW. You want to stay out of transonic because it causes bullet cavitation, so 1000fps is a good max. So, no, it won't mean anything. AK's can't cycle subsonic rounds without work. Also I should add shooting a suppressed AK really sucks, it blows shit in your eyeballs like an air compressor each shot.

I think if I were going to do an SBR, I would do a .223 or a .300BLK

I would want to have wide spread replacement parts availability for something that I had the time/headache in a couple stamps

An AR15 SBR receiver is every caliber you could ever want, just swap out uppers. An AK SBR is only 1 gun, and that's all it will ever be.

Fun SBR calibers are .223, .300, 9mm. All perform adequately in short barrels.

.45 is a good caliber also but takes a lot more work.

Solid point. To me, SBR = AR platform. Pistol = AK

Always enlightening. I already take issue with my ar rifle blowing gas in my face.

What's your opinion on a non-suppressed AK sbr? Ive always wanted an AK but I don't need a long rifle and a pistol would be a novelty, midnight drum dumper.
