  • Why I want a 10mm AR upper, but I will be buying a .45 upper first...

Curious, but what would the reasoning be behind this? Of course, "just because" or "its cheaper" are the obvious reasons (well not obvious to me...obviously).

But in all fairness, I hold the 10mm pretty high up there...hell I sold all of my .45ACP stuff after I discovered the 10mm so why any other caliber?

Because they don't make a .46!!! Oh wait...

Because they're hard to find. I went with 9mm because I wanted a dedicated lower that took cheap, easy to find mags and doesn't look like poo.

Plus, if more than three 10mm ARs are fired at the same time anywhere on Earth, the muzzle energy would slow the Earth's rotation if fired eastward, and speed it up if fired westward. If any one is fired in an opposite direction from the others, if will cause a black hole.

This is true I have seen it.

It's simple, cast bullets in .45 all day long. 10x cheaper to shoot than 10mm.

You can't get lighter, cheaper cast bullets in .401"?

You have to slow them down to prevent leading and you end up with a .40 S&W defeating the purpose.

Makes sense and did think of the cast/velocity issue.

Though some of these replies would be WAAAAYYY more exciting, lol

You can certainly cast a hard enough bullet for 1200-1300fps, but it's a lot more work and if I can't do it with wheel weights and I start having to add expensive antimony or copper gas checks I'm pretty much punching out.

I find less stories about 10mm issues than I do 460 rowland issues. Plus I am in love with 10mm, so my opinion is not without bias.

A bunch of people run .460 Rowland hotter than they should, and generally, it's loaded to higher pressures anyway. That's just how tinkering goes with that stuff.

While awesome, wouldn't loading sub sonic cast 9mm be even cheaper?
