  • new duty gun ideas

So basically my Glock 31 (357sig) is going to be replaced by a glock 22 due to the lack of 357sig ammo available. Dept is going away with those and buying new glock 22 gen4's. I'm "a" ok with that but was thinking of something else. They allow you to carry what u want here as long as u get it approved.. I'm looking for u gun nut's advice on a new duty gun.

First I have fallen in love with the new FNP-45... The tactical is pure sexiness but only if it were in black and without a red dot. Id love a black fnp-45... Second are the glock 21, s&w M&P-45 tactical, XD-45 tactical, ETC. Yes I want to go .45 if u hadn't noticed.

I want to know ur take on the FN... Ive had XD before and loved it. This must be a durable long lasting gun what will take the bullshit that comes with working patrol (heat, rain, dust, dirt, etc). Plus magazines mustn't be a raping... Ive heard FN mags are retarded expensive... I'd need at least 3 to start out with..

Lastly, a 1911 would be steller but I don't want to spend the coin on a nice railed 1911... I HAVE a mint colt m1991 that my FIL got me and I can't force myself to use it on the streets...

I would probably be trading my old gen3 glock 35 on whatever I buy. Thanks in advance.

People might chuckle at this but my all-time favorite full-size pistol is a Beretta 92FS. For some reason I can just shoot so damn well with a full-size Beretta.

Also, while I know you probably wouldn't carry a wheel gun due to the lack of rounds you could roll with, out of curiosity would the department allow you to carry one? My uncle in the Dallas Police Department said there are still five or six old-timers that never changed over to semi automatics. It is seen as something of a badge of seniority and a status symbol among the other officers.

I like the P226 Elite. I've got one in stainless, and they're available in 9mm or .40S&W. There's a P227 now, if you want a double stack .45.

      Edit: S&W Model 29?

I would stick with a glock since they are proven to take the abuse police put them through. Your life is depending on that gun to work. I would stay away from a 1911 just because they can be finicky unless they are built right, and those are so nicr and expensive you probably would not want to carry it on duty.

If I were a cop, and could get away with writing off a Wilson Combat pistol, I would go for it.

Hell yeah, I didn't even think about that.

Glock 21 or 22. I don't see a reason to carry a 1911. Low round count, really light trigger, failure prone, expensive.

Glock mags are cheap, you are already used to the platform and trigger, and it will shoot no matter what the conditions. Not to mention weight difference

I'm not a big fan of the FNP tactical but I know a couple guys that love em. I am not a fan of the trigger and it's not my kind of ergonomic. Personally I like the HK tactical. Feels better in the hand.

FTWPD used to issue Sig P220 and I know a couple guys still carrying them great gun IMO

For what the FN or the Sig will run you can get a good 1911. Sig makes a few nice 1911's under 1K. Springfield Armory also has a few in the $8-900 range. Sure it's not a Willson or Ed Brown but those that I have shot have run perfect.

Fn, glock 41, your glock 35, or a full size M&P.

Edit. Put a glock 35 barrel in your 31

If you want a 45, hard to beat the m&p for the price

I love my M&P, and the price is just right.

I'd of figured you'd suggested the most expensive HK ever made? Look how you've grown!!
