  • Pinning a muzzle brake vs silver soldering

Gun pros please give me the pros and cons. Stainless barrel with steel flash hider (not a brake, so clocking isnt a factor). This is to comply with barrel length requirements so it needs to be permanent.

What I was worried about was heating a stainless barrel to 1100 degrees and also won't it discolor the barrel?

a little, you can polish it right back out though. hence it being called "stainless"

So long as you don't get it so got that it causes warping or carbon precipitation you should be fine.

Personally I pin em but just because that's easier for me vs solder plus it's easier to reverse should you need to take it apart
