  • .223 silencers

School me. Brands to stay away from and or brands you suggest.

I might buy two as I'm about to build a .300 blk.

    What's your budget?

Are you planning to fire full auto?

    Is weight an issue?

    Is length an issue?

    Thread on or quick disconnect?

Stay away from gemtech. I hate my G5.

Get on youtube look for video's of people shooting both unsuppressed and suppressed that will give a point of reference

As far as brands Gemtech makes a decent can but bang for the buck is way off

Silencerco and AAC make great cans but you will pay for them.

Thompson machine and HTA both make a can you can disassemble some think this is not an advantage I personally like it.

Coastal is one most people over look My Mac can is a coastal and it works great and is fairly easy to clean

YHM gets overlooked also decent can

Silencertalk.com is a good resource also just like anything on the forums you have to weed through the BS

Price i have not even looked at to be honest. Cousin has a fast attach surefire(i think) on one of his ar's. I really dont care if its fast attach or not. Id thread it on if needed, but the fast attach would be nice.

Semi auto fire with no mag dumps. how do they effect accuracy, or loss in velocity?

SWR Specwar and YHM phantom are both good cans

Unless you're going for long range accuracy shooting I would go with a QD can due to the ease of swapping from one rifle to another.

Thread-ons affect poi less than QD cans

As far as loss of velocity, you actually usually see an increase in velocity with suppressors with the exception of integrally suppressed.

If you have the coin I would go with a Ti suppressor, the weight difference is massive

I will report that my saker has no POI change that I can report, even at 200 yards. And that is a QD model.

You're damn sure not going to use a .223 can over a .308 bore, so they're out for .300BLK.

When he said he might buy two, I assume he meant that he was going to get a .223 and a .30 cal. In which case, why not just get one .30 cal suppressor to cover both?

Yeah I would go a bigger caliber so you can shoot everything through it. It will only hurt sound by a few decibels in most cases.

Then let your next one be a caliber specific.

I would suggest buying in this order:

                        .22 suppressor
                        .30 suppressor
                        .45 suppressor
---at this point all calibers are covered
                        .223 suppressor
                        9mm suppressor

That's the general consensus, to cover the most calibers as quickly and cheaply as possible.

I like my saker, but it is heavy (however not any more than competing cans). I primarily bought it because I plan on shooting full auto, and I have several very short barreled rifles. That's it's strengths. If a machinegun wasn't going to be in the near future, I would recommend a lighter can. What I really like about it is super cheap QD mounts, the trifecta mounts are about $40 a piece, that's stupid cheap.

I wondered if the 30 cal would cover the .223 as well. Thanks for the info fella's.

Cj, where the hell are you finding those mounts for $40? I need a couple at minimum.

Talk to some of the FFL's on the board see if they can get you a good price on some.
