  • optimal barrel length for 300blk?

I am going forward with the build officially and looking at barrels now. I have read that 300blk has pretty much nothing to gain past about a 10" barrel. I want to use sub sonic loads mainly in this build and a suppressor. I am submitting my electronic info for 2 stamps for both the can and the lower this week and just sorting some details out before I do. Just wanting to see if this is the general consensus here that a 10.5" or so barrel is optimal for this application.

It depends on what you call optimal. It will show velocity gains with increasing barrel length, but not near as much as a lot of rifle rounds. If you're mostly going to shoot sub sonic then the additional length and weight of going with a longer barrel is probably not worth it.
Here is a graph of velocity vs barrel length I found for 5.56, 300 BLK, and 6.8. I realize you'd be using much heavier bullets for subsonic loads but it shows the trend.

      I run a 9.5", wish I had a 7.5"

I was thinking of picking up the red X 7.5" 300 blk assembled upper.

I just checked and it is. Please educate me why that is important for this application though.

Well I just threw down on a 7.5" red X assembled upper and a tunderbeast arms 30p-1 suppressor. Its going to be the longest 4 months or so I have had in a long time.

And before I get reamed by cj for not buying a suppressor that can be taken apart for cleaning. I did my homework and for this titanium suppressor. When I feel that it needs it I will give it a thorough bath in the ultrasonic cleaning machine I have at my disposal at work. Those things with the chemicals that are in them clean the living shit out of stuff.

As far as the upper, I wasn't going for the cheapest I could find by any means but this thing is just flat out half the price of anything else I could find. I compared specs and even build materials and I just dont see where people ask 1k+ for an assembled upper. I dont see where the cost is.

Rifle cans are not serviceable. Only low pressure ones are like .22 and AK cans. Thunderbeast makes good suppressors.

                      Standard carbine is fine.

Ive got a 30P-1 in wait and decided to get a 300blk as well, but opted for the 16" as I don't want to start yet another stamp (yet) on an SBR....

Any issues with it, in the esteemed opinions of this board (CJ?)?
