    In for the land trust!

Have no idea if that is legally possible....
      I like it.

I'm sure somebody with knowledge will come in and kill the idea, but thinking out loud: $1000 a month divided by 30 people would be like $33 a month. Even cheaper if more people join up. Way easier said than done though.

The hardest part is dealing with the money.

You'd have to find a good piece of land close to the metroplex which might be difficult. I guess you'd most likely want to do a lease and I'd have to be in someone's name. Who on here would sign for a lease @ $1000 a month with just the promise that 30 members on dfwm would pay them. What happens when the lease is 5 years and people back out after one year, or stop paying? Suddenly the leaseholder is stuck with a large payment. We might be able to work it out as a yearly one time payment.

I know a handful of people that would be good for it. I'm sure we could make it work, but I can't imagine anyone that would be willing to stick their neck out.

Agreed. It would be best to find a piece of land that can be rented on a yearly basis and we pay the year up front. I would imagine as time went by it could become nicer and people would want to continue it. I am a hell of a woodworker and would be willing to chip in time and tools to build shooting style facilities.

What are the laws from county to county or city to city regarding discharging a firearm?

It could prove difficult to find someone to lease a tract of land on a short term contract knowing that you have intent on bringing in heavy machinery and building berms all through the property

Maybe but if they aren't using it for anything else why would they care?

If it were my land, my concern wouldn't be with the berms, it would be with the metal left behind from the bullets in the berms

I think you are over thinking it a little bit.

I agree. I'm sure it would be pretty badass. A lot of us would contribute. I'd be in for building steel targets and such. Would be pretty cool to have a dfwm members only range. I think we could easily find 30 people if not more. Especially if we all put money into the range itself. I'd definitely be in.

Another issue would be who gets the liability and what happens when someone wants out?

Liability is something I have no knowledge of.

I think we'd have to require a year up front. If somebody wants out the next year I'm sure somebody would replace them. If not, rates would reflect.
