The best time to buy a machine gun was yesterday.

The one I am trying to get is around 25k. I am trying to justify it as a "retirement" investment.

It is a little rough, but still has a lot of life left.

Yeah that's very typical for M16's, they usually have a lot of rounds through them. That's one of the reasons that turned me off from the Colt guns is they usually have been abused quite a bit. The better examples carry huge premiums (ruben has several (5) up for 32k right now). I'm more concerned about the wear on the guns (like mag well bowing, sear holes worn out, hammer holes). I ended up finding a nice brand new never fired in the white M16 RR for a good price. You just need to do a little homework on which RR you want and which to avoid. Some of them are built on M16 forgings (SGW/PAWS/Sendra) and are literally the exact same thing.

More stable than the stock or housing market and unlike other investments, you can have tons of fun with it and it still grows in value. Plus, if the world comes to an end, stocks are useless, an m16 on the other hand.....

Fuck paying $30k for an M16. You can still find colts in the high teen-low $20k all day long and I still wouldn't pay that much. Personally, If I were to do it all over again and had to buy an m16, I'd buy a Sendra conversion.

But I'll gladly sell my GM M16 for let's say $35k.

I did toy with getting a conversion. My buddy is an 07 and is set up for it. He just converted a POF to full auto. The only problem I see is maintaining my SOT. If I do not pay the 500/year, I will have to surrender all NFA Items in my inventory. ATF will promptly destroy them.

I have a trust set up and would like a transferable M-16. That is my first choice. I just hate pulling 25g's out of the bank............for a piece of metal.

You dont have to surrender them, sell them to someone else. 07/02 can buy any posties without a demo letter from any dealer getting out of the business.

Thats true, I will maintain my 01. The SOT is kinda useless for me these days with the tremendous wait for NFA items. I'm still on the fence on whether I will be keeping it. I will decide this June.
