  • Recommend me a weaponlight

So I picked up a new handgun with a rail and I'm in the market for a weaponlight for it. Last one I had was 3 or 4 years ago, think it was an Insight and I picked it up from a fellow board member for under $100 or so. Sold it along with the Glock 22 I had it mounted on to a buddy of mine (thought about seeing if he would sell it back to me) a while back.

So who here has a weaponlight mounted on there gun and why did you choose what you have? I'm probably leaning towards a Streamlight or Surefire (more so towards the Surefire) right now, maybe a laser on it to. Also need to find a compatible holster that I can use with the light mounted on the gun. Any suggestions?

This is going on a Springfield Armory Lightweight Champion Operator 4" barrel.

I have A TRL 1 HL on my 23. 675 lumens or something like that. It is the brightest light I've ever seen. Same size as TLR1 so no problems doing a holster.
    Apology about the large pictures.

A lot of people do raven for holsters, but I went with a smaller company called RDR (rounds down range) because it was cheaper and lead times were shorter. Very stellar product too. Lots of customization available as they build your holster to your specs (Belt size, cant, body shield)

I like the Streamlight stuff. I have at least 3 of the TLR1s and a TLR2.

Jose, you bought the Operator from the classifieds? I am jealous.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

TLR-3 is a nice light. Amazon is king on price. Even dealer price is what you buy here for! 79 bucks and free ship!

TLR-3 for compactness. It fits perfect on my full-size PX4.

Another vote for Streamlight. I've got a Streamlight TLR-1s on my Beretta 92A1. You can't go wrong with Surefire either but they will cost more.

Good recommendation on RDR. I was actually looking into the Raven holsters but I think I like what I see with RDR and certainly the prices look better. Just wish Comp-Tac made what I wanted. IMO they really make the best Kydex holsters out there but they are pricey.

Yes sir! This may be my last 1911 purchase (at least for a while ) and I might have to thin out the herd some and sell a couple of Ultra Carrys. It is noticeably bigger than the Ultra Carry but feels about the same weight.

I've had maybe a half dozen or so Surefire lights and a couple of Streamlight's and I've always been impressed with the Surefire quality (and warranty) compared to Streamlight but it's hard to deny the price point.

Crap! Decisions now... save money or go big??

I haven't done a lot of research on my own but are the controls essentially the same between the two? Duplicate controls on either side, up for momentary or down for on (might have that mixed up)?

You could also try Bravo concealment. It's a bonus that they are here in Texas.

Cool! I'll have to check them out when I get home from work. They have those sites blocked up here

Need to decide on the light first and than holster. Decisions....

                            Go big

Push for momentary on and the up or down is constant on

I'd go with Bravo. Unless you have the benefit of cheap Raven stuff with half the normal lead time

                              As for light, I'd go tlr1 or Tlr3. Maybe a surefire x300
