  • Optics Questions?

Does anyone know of a good link/website that explains optics in depth? I have been debating picking up something for my AR-10 but honestly most of my shooting experience is with handguns so I am looking for an article/research that will explain the different types, pluse/minuses, uses etc.

I have a A4 model now but am looking at picking up a SASS and the optics will probably end up on that rifle.

    Thanks

I am basically looking for something that outlines:
Magnification - which magnification for what distance
Reticle - crosshair/dots etc - best for what use
Bullet Drop compensator - uses, applicability
      Wind compensators - necessary/unneccessary?

A lot of this info is going to be subjective from shooter to shooter. You can find some good info on the Snipers Hide forums.

a lot of the questions could be omitted depending on what end use for the rifle is.

Let Chuck Ross build you an accurized AR10, O.C. He built my DMR upper, and I couldn't be happier with it. Don't put down the coin that DPMS wants for the SASS. They have really gone downhill since the Freedom Group swallowed the whole damn gun industry, them included.
